Description

"Phoebe’s Field: Innovative, Informal Physics is a proposal to the National Science Foundation for a traveling exhibition designed to make the invisible science of electromagnetic, gravitational and acoustic fields accessible to middle school children, particularly girls... The exhibition borrows themes from this story to give exhibit visitors a narrative context in which to interact with and discover that fields exist, can be three-dimensional, can be blocked, and can be measured and detected. " (from the Phoebe's Field web site)

As part of this year long endeavor sponsored by the National Science Foundation, I was involved in the design of interactive exhibits, artifact and web sites.

Results / Outputs

This project resulted in a number of design concepts and ideas, all of which was a product of teamwork. A patent has been filed for these concepts. Highlights of work I was most involved in would be in the conception of an interactive 'field notebook' for the visitors could use as a guide at the exhibit and also in ideation for a website. This book (viewable online) catalogs all the work that was done during the year that I was a part of the project. The entire project is extremely fluid and dynamic, forever evolving.
